Our objective is to provide the highest level of sports medicine care to the intercollegiate student-athletes of El Camino College. This includes the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries as well as helping to direct the nutritional, physiological, and psychological needs of the student-athlete. The medical staff will conduct themselves with the highest ethical standards as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
El Camino Athletic Training has established the following policies to help fulfill the college's mission statement and ensure prompt, safe, and competent care to the injured athlete:
1. To allow and encourage easy equitable access of the athletic training services for all intercollegiate student-athletes.
2. Provide medical coverage for all sporting events by BOC Certified Athletic Trainers.
3. To reduce the risk of injury for the student-athlete by utilizing injury prevention strategies.
4. To promote a philosophy of sport that places a high value on health, wellness and lifetime fitness.
WHAT IS AN ATHLETIC TRAINER?
Athletic trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients across age and care continuums. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, clinical assessment and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic trainers work under the direction of a licensed physician.
The Athletic Training Facility is located north of the tennis courts, adjacent to the fitness center and track. It can be accessed off Redondo Beach Blvd.
The Athletic Training Facility is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Weekend hours are determined by individual sports.
