Russell Higgins ran for the Warriors in 1977 and 1978 which culminated with a state championship in the 110-meter high hurdles. Higgins took the state crown with a time of 14.43. During that same season, Higgins set the school record in the event with a time of 14.20, a record that stood at ECC for 40 years until it was broken in 2018. His mark still sits third in the ECC record books and was the first of three Warriors athletes all-time to win a state title in the event.
