Bio
Samantha Taylor goes down in the ECC record books as the greatest setter to play for the Warriors. The San Pedro native finished her career with a program-record 2,247 career assists, nearly 500 more than the next closest athlete. Taylor was a member of back-to-back state championship teams in 2007-08, with the 2007 squad breaking a 24-year drought since the program’s last state title in 1983. As a freshman on the 2007 squad, Taylor dished out 1,123 assists and was named to the All-South Coast Conference First Team while also netting Most Valuable Player honors at the state championships. As a sophomore, Taylor one-upped herself, literally, by dishing out 1,124 assists during the season, which remains the most assists by a Warriors player in a single season. Of the three 1,100 assist seasons in ECC history, Taylor holds the top two. Taylor would also earn AVCA All-American honors in 2008, leading a state championship team that finished the season with a 32-2 overall record, the best winning percentage by a Warriors team in program history.
