Palomares Named National Player of the Week
United Soccer Coaches' Week 3 Players of the Week Release
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Sophomore Donovan Palomares is the United Soccer Coaches' National Junior College Men's Player of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.
It is the second time in the Warriors' goalkeeper's career that he has earned the distinction, claiming the award as a freshman in 2022. He is also the second straight Warriors player to earn the nod after Marvin Gamez was given the honor last week.
Palomares secured two shutouts for the week, maintaining a clean sheet on the road against Glendale, a team ranked 15th in the nation according to the United Soccer Coaches' poll at the time. During that performance, he made three saves to ensure the shutout. Palomares continued his strong form with another shutout win over Chaffey on Friday, where he made three saves.
On the season, Palomares has started every match for ECC and posted a 8-1-0 record, playing 801:04 of a possible 810 minutes. He's recorded four straight shutouts with 15 saves during that streak.
