COMPTON, Calif. --- One of the most impressive unbeaten streaks in 3C2A men's soccer came to an end Tuesday as El Camino College dropped a 1-0 South Coast Conference decision to Compton at Tay Brown Stadium.

The loss snapped the Warriors' 31-match unbeaten streak dating back to Sept. 5, 2023 at Norco. It also marks the first time the Warriors have been shut out since November 4, 2022 in the first round of the South Coast Conference Tournament against Long Beach, a 0-0 draw. Furthermore, it's the first shutout loss suffered by the Warriors since November, 12, 2021, a 3-0 loss to Mount San Antonio in the third-place match of the SCC Tournament.

On Tuesday, the Warriors were snake-bitten as they outshot the Tartars 11-4 including a 7-3 edge in shots on target. But the Warriors hit a number of posts and the Compton defense blocked a shot from Marvin Gamez off the goal line to save a goal.

Meanwhile, the Tartars found the back of the net in the 32nd minute as a shot from Bryan Espita deflected off a Warriors defender and to the foot of Hugo Reyes, who beat Warriors keeper Robert Baker for the lone goal of the match.

The Tartars would drop back defensively from there and the Warriors could not find the back of the net despite some great chances.

The team will look to regroup and start a new streak on Friday at L.A. Harbor. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
