Hossain and Waldiya Advance in Doubles Action at State Championships
VENTURA, Calif. --- Tarik Hossain and Shubham Waldiya advanced in the doubles section of the 3C2A State Championships after scoring a win on Thursday at Buena High School in Ventura, Calif.
The Warriors' top double team continued to play well on Thursday, scoring a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jack Van Ness and Jack Eldridge in the round of 64.
In singles action, both Warriors' seasons came to an end as Hossain, who advanced to the round of 64 thanks to a bye, suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Sebastian Koster of Fullerton college.
Waldiya had to play in the round of 128 against Masen Davis from College of the Sequoias. Waldiya would score a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win to advance to the round of 64.
Awaiting Waldiya in the next round was Keisuke Ariga of Foothill College and Waldiya fell in straight sets (7-5, 6-3).
Hossain and Waldiya will face Ian Nicodemus and Brodie Young-Smith of Glendale in the round of 32 on Friday at 1 p.m. at Buena High School after that team scored a 6-0, 6-0 win in round one.
