Warriors Swept by Fullerton

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-18) loss to visiting Fullerton on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors were done in by the Hornets' service game on Friday as Fullerton recorded 11 aces and just three errors. In addition, the Hornets were able to mount long scoring runs on one player's service game in the first and third sets to pull away in each game.

In the first set, the Warriors gave up three service aces to Samuel Chavez as Fullerton went on a 7-0 run on his serve, turning a 14-13 game into a 21-13 lead for the Hornets and they never looked back.

In the third, Curtis Lee's service game notched four service aces and spearheaded an 11-0 run for the Hornets to put the Warriors behind 15-2 and they never recovered.

Kolby Maniglia led ECC with nine kills while Luke Harmon added eight on 16 swings with just one error for a .438 attack percentage. Miguel Vetus dished out 17 assists and Kaimana Honda added 11 helpers in a losing effort for the Warriors.

Chavez led all players with 12 kills for Fullerton.

The Warriors will wrap up the regular season next week with a match at Santa Monica on Wednesday, March 8 and then the final match of the season will take place Friday, March 10 at ECC when the Warriors host Long Beach.
