Knight, Morales Lead Warriors to Doubleheader Sweep over Pasadena

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College scored a pair of dominant South Coast Conference win over Pasadena on Tuesday at the ECC Softball Field.

GAME ONE: WARRIORS 7, PASADENA 0

The Warriors were the designated road team in game one as the originally scheduled game at Citrus on March 13 was rained out.

But the Warriors were right at home, blanking the Lancers as Morgan Knight and Lexi Ramirez each went 3-for-3 in the game with Knight driving in one and Ramirez recording two RBIs. Mahlia Espino was excellent in the circle, tossing her first seven-inning complete game. She allowed just two hits and struck out three to stay unbeaten in the circle this season.

GAME TWO: WARRIORS 11, PASADENA 0 (5 INNINGS)

The Warriors were held scoreless in the first inning but then ran off 11 unanswered runs in the next three frames and Lexi Ramirez recorded the victory in relief, striking out seven in three hitless innings. Espino tossed the first two frames an allowed just one hit and one walk.

Bryanna Morales entered the game as a sub and had a great day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs. She had a two-run single in the third and a two-run double in the fourth.

Jackie Ordonez was also 2-for-2 with two runs scored as nine different Warriors recorded at least one hit in the final game of the day.

The Warriors will return to action on Thursday afternoon when they welcome Mount San Antonio to the ECC Softball Field for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
