No. 5 Softball Overcomes Bad Inning to Take Down No. 11 Cerritos

NORWALK, Calif. --- No. 5 El Camino College overcame a burst of offense from No. 11 Cerritos to score a 9-5 South Coast Conference victory at Cerritos College.

The Warriors scored their seventh straight victory in comeback fashion, overtaking the Falcons with seven unanswered runs to record the win.

Five players recorded multi-hit games for the Warriors with Lexi Ramirez and Morgan Knight driving in two RBIs apiece. Emma Garcia was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Cheyenne Navarro was 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.

Ramirez also picked up her 21st victory of the season in the circle, tossing her 20th complete game of the year. She allowed five unearned runs on four hits with four walks and six strikeouts. She gave up all five runs in the fourth inning while surrendering two of the four hits and three of her four walks in the same frame.

Despite giving up a 2-0 lead with that five-run fourth, the Warriors mounted a comeback as they answered immediately with a three-run fifth to tie the game and then took the lead with one run in the sixth and put the game away with three runs in the seventh.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday afternoon when they host No. 19 Citrus at the ECC Softball Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
