COMPTON, Calif. --- No. 5 El Camino College needed some late heroics to down Compton 7-3 in a South Coast Conference game at Compton College.

The Warriors needed a seven-run sixth inning to overcome a three-run deficit to score the victory in their final game of the regular season.

Lexi Ramirez was 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run and two RBIs while also scoring her 24th win of the season in the circle on Wednesday. She pitched 2 and 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to help keep the deficit at three before the offense erupted in the sixth.

The inning began with a leadoff walk from Lilly Lewis and then Ramirez found the perfect spot in right field for a two-run inside-the-park home run to cut the deficit to 3-2. Two singles, a wild pitch and a passed ball later, the Warriors tied the game and went on to add four more runs to take a 7-3 lead.

It was more than enough for Ramirez who struck out the side in the seventh to end it.

The Warriors finish the year with a 33-7 overall record and 20-4 mark in conference play. It is their second straight 30-win season and sixth overall in head coach Jessica Rapoza's tenure which began in 2015. In her 10 seasons at the helm, the Warriors have made the postseason in every year that has been completed. The only exceptions are the 2020 season when there was no postseason after the COVID-19 Pandemic caused the cancellation of the remaining schedule, leaving ECC with just 20 games played that year. There was no season in 2021, also due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Warriors will open the 2025 3C2A Southern California Regionals on Friday, May 2. Their opponent will be revealed in the next week and will be announced on ECCWarriors.com.
