Samayoa Wins Two State Titles and Smashes Record at State Championships
SANTA ROSA, Calif. --- Sophomore Iyanah Samayoa completed her El Camino College record in style as she recorded two wins and smashed a state record to complete the weekend at the 3C2A State Championships.
Samayoa repeated as the state champion in the 100 and 200 breastroke this weekend, breaking the 200 breast record by 1.57 seconds.
On Friday, Samayoa defended her title in the 100 breast with a scorching final 50 yards, finishing in 33.41 to leave the competition behind and finish the race in 1:03.41, a full second ahead of the runner up. She also improved her time from last year by 0.68.
The big performance came on Saturday as Samayoa dominated to defend her title in the 200 breast. She beat her own winning time from 2024 by nearly three seconds after winning in 2:15.93 on Saturday. She broke Ashley Tse's state record of 2:17.50, which was set in 2018. Samayoa also earned the 3C2A Women's Performance of the Meet for her record-breaking victory.
Samayoa concludes her ECC career with five individual state titles.

Event 16 – Men's 400 IM: Ryan Song finished sixth overall with a time of 4:12.18.
Event 29 – Women's 1650 Freestyle: Olivia Mozian just missed out on a podium finish, placing fourth overall with a time of 18:15.55.
