Relay Teams Headline Warriors Performances on Day One at SCC Championships

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College scored one victory and several top-five finishes on day one of the South Coast Conference Championships hosted at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The Warriors' lone win on Thursday came in the 200-yard medley relay as the squad of Gio Wheeler, Alex Bugarin, Marc Bugarin and Caden Kendall posted a time of 1:27.73.

The women's team of Danielle Ciscel, Alyssa Mack, Francesca Pinillos, and Sophia Beghin finished third in the same event with a time of 1:46.38.

The afternoon concluded with event 10, the men's 400 medley relay. The squad of Koichiro Ambe, Kendall, Wheeler and Alex Bugarin placed second with a time of 3:33.37.

Other individual highlights for the Warriors on day one included:

  • Olivia Mozian placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:14.22.
  • Koichiro Ambe posted a second-place finish in the men's 200 individual medley with a time of 1:58.53.
  • Monica Sanchez placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:20.05.
  • Pinillos finished fifth in the women's 50 free with a time of 25.70.

Day two of the SCC Championships will begin Friday at 10 a.m. with preliminaries. The finals for the day are slated to begin at 4 p.m.
