Warriors Wrap Day Two of Conference Championships

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College men's and women's swim teams both sit in third place after the completion of day two of the South Coast Conference Championships on Friday at the ECC Aquatics Center.

The men's team currently sits with 288 points through 28 events, trailing first-place Long Beach City (653) and second-place Mt. San Antonio (508).

On the women's side, the Warriors are in third with 296 points with Mt. SAC (648) and LBCC (330) also holding the top two spots going into the final day.

Highlights for the Warriors on Friday at the SCC Championships:

  • The men's 200 medley relay team of Koichiro Ambe, Caden Kendall, Angel Byrne and Alex Bugarin finished second with a time of 1:39.78. Pasadena took first with a time of 1:37.01.
  • Gio Wheeler finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.78, narrowly missing out on a conference title as Aidan Stanton of Mt. SAC edged out the win at 51.55.
  • The women's 200 medley relay team of Olivia Mozian, Monica Sanchez, Jasmine Eskander and Francesca Pinillos placed third with a time of 1:55.71.
  • Eskander placed third in the women's 400 individual medley with a time of 4:54.63.
  • Sanchez took third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.58.
  • Mozian finished fifth in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.34.
  • The men's 800 free relay squad of Wheeler, Sawyer Ruth, Marc Bugarin and Ambe placed second with a time of 7:23.31.
