Warriors Perform Well in Field Events at Pasadena Invitational
PASADENA, Calif. --- El Camino College competed at the Pasadena Invitational hosted by Pasadena City College on Friday at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Warriors performed well in the field events on Friday, getting first-place finishes in the pole vault on the women's side and the high jump on the men's side.
For the women, Tilliana Wakefield-Carl recorded her third win of the season in the pole vault and first since taking the top spot at the Viking Invitational on March 7. On Friday, Wakefield-Carl posted a mark of 3.50m (11 feet, 5.75 inches), which was her best mark of the season and improved her already third-best mark in ECC history.
On the men's side, Gunner Perez tied for first place in the high jump with a mark of 1.85m (6 feet, 0.75 inches). He and Jeremiah Wiley of Orange Coast each recorded the mark with both athletes failing to get over the bar at 1.90m to win the event outright.
Other highlights from Friday included:
- Griffin Esperon and Perez finished second (3.80m; 12 feet, 5.5 inches) and third (3.20m; 10 feet, 6 inches) in the pole vault respectively.
- Amir Young placed sixth in the long jump (5.92m; 19 feet, 5.25 inches) while Perez placed eighth in the event with a mark of 5.84m (19 feet, 2 inches).
- Christine Adams scored a top-10 finish as she placed sixth in the 400m with a time of 1:04.63.
The Warriors will host the annual Dave Shannon Invitational on Saturday, March 29 at Murdock Stadium.
