SAN MATEO, Calif. --- Tilliana Wakefield-Carl placed fourth in the pole vault and Gunner Perez currently sits in ninth at the halfway point of the decathlon after both competed at the 3C2A State Championships on Friday at the College of San Mateo.

Wakefield-Carl concluded an incredible freshman season with the Warriors with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault finals, recording a mark of 3.55m (11 feet, 7.75 inches). Wakefield-Carl actually placed in a four-way tie for the best mark but the Warriors' freshman had three misses overall to break the ties and place her in fourth with Shae Wright of Chabot winning the state title. Kaylee Tan of San Diego Mesa and Sofia DiMarco of Mt. SAC placed second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Gunner Perez currently sits in ninth place after completing the first half of the decathlon on Friday. He amassed 2651 points on day one while leader Brock Gross of Modesto sits atop the leaderboard with 3470 points.

Perez had his best showing in the high jump as he tied for the third best mark with a jump of 1.82m (5 feet, 11.5 inches). But Perez did not finish higher than 7th in the other four events on Friday (100m, 400m, Long Jump, Shot Put). He will finish up the decathlon on Saturday with the 110m high hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin and 1500m.

Laighton Scott will also compete in the discus final on Saturday as the Warriors wrap up the 2025 season.
