Pinner, Wakefield-Carl Sweep Pole Vault at Moorpark Open Invitational

MOORPARK, Calif. --- James Pinner and Tilliana Wakefield-Carl took home wins in the men's and women's pole vault respectively as El Camino College competed at the Moorpark Open Invitational on Friday.

Pinner took the men's event with a mark of 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11.25 inches). He was the only person in the nine-athlete field that cleared four meters.

On the women's side, Wakefield-Carl recorded a win over four unattached athletes and one community college competitor. Wakefield-Carl posted a mark of 3.50m (11 feet, 5.75 inches) and was one of two athletes to clear three meters on the day.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Taylen Odhiambo, Isla Gonzalez, Raelyn Pleasant and Itseoritse Okoturo claimed first place with a time of 4:28.91 while the men's 4x400m team of Trevaun Green, Cire Younger, Daniel Smith and Daniel Reamer placed second with a time of 3:27.20.

Other Warriors highlights included:

  • Eric Nash finished fifth in the men's javelin with a throw of 40.92m (134 feet, 3 inches).
  • Pleasant finished fifth in the women's 200m with a time of 25.59. She also finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.58m (18 feet, 3.75 inches)
  • The 4x100m women's relay team of Odhiambo, Pleasant, Okoturo and Cenietha Bates placed fourth with a time of 52.74.
