Skefich, Wakefield-Carl, Top Warriors Finishes at State Championships
WALNUT, Calif. --- Freshman Jadeyn Skefich and sophomore Tilliana Wakefield-Carl highlighted El Camino College's individual finishes this past weekend at the 3C2A State Championships hosted by Mount San Antonio College at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Skefich placed third overall in the women's 10,000-meter run on Friday, posting a time of 38:01.51, her best time in the event this season. Natalie Allen of San Diego Mesa (37:49.11) and Siena Pignataro of De Anza (37:59.97) both finished ahead of Skefich in the event.
Sophomore Tilliana Wakefield-Carl wrapped her record-setting career at ECC with a third-place finish in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.70m (12 feet, 1.5 inches). Miku Yanagawa (4.00m) and Emma Samvelian (3.90m) of Mt. SAC both placed above Wakefield-Carl on the podium.
Wakefield-Carl leaves ECC as the school's record holder in the event after she cleared 3.80m at the 3C2A Southern California Finals on May 9.
Sophomore and 3C2A SoCal champion Laighton Scott placed fourth overall at the 3C2A State Championships as he posted a throw of 48.77m (160 feet).
Raelyn Pleasant also posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.49m (37 feet, 8.5 inches).
Sophomore Gunner Perez wrapped up his ECC career with his best career outing in the decathlon, posting 6,401 total points to finish fifth overall.
As a team, the ECC men's team placed 20th overall out of 35 teams competing while the women placed 14th out of 34 squads.
