Gore, Winyaworapon Qualify for State Championships

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. --- Anya Gore and Montila Winyaworapon had solid showings at the South Coast Conference Individual and Pairs Championships held at the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club on Friday.

Gore advanced to the semifinals in the individual championships, falling to eventual conference champion Mylene Keophaseut of San Diego Mesa in three sets (21-23, 21-16, 21-15).

Gore's third-place finish grants her a place at the 3C2A Individual State Championships, which will be held May 9-10 at City College of San Francisco.

Gore and her teammate Montila Winyaworapon will also make their way to the state championships in doubles action as the Warriors' top pair also advanced to the semifinals on Friday before suffering a loss.
