Women’s Basketball Cruises By EC-Compton Center 77-22

COMPTON, Calif. - Women's Basketball is on a three game winning streak, having swept EC Compton Center 77-22 in their third game of conference play on Wednesday night. The Warriors advance to 3-0 in conference (9-9 overall). Kasey Takahashi and Kayla Bibb helped the Warriors blaze past the Tartars, outshooting the home team in each quarter and giving them very little chances of catching up.

"Overall it was a really nice performance, we got off on a good start and established ourselves first," shared Coach Steve Shaw.

The Warriors had a quick start and held a 21 point lead before Compton was able to get on the board. The first quarter proved to be the most challenging for the Tartars with the Warriors only allowing in two points.

The final quarter began with the Warriors ahead by 48 points but Compton was first to score in the quarter with a three pointer by Joy Aguilar. Despite the large lead the Warriors continued to add up points to end with a 55 point gap with the majority of the team scoring points.

"The team stayed focused and did not play to the scoreboard," commented Coach Shaw. "We played each position and played good basketball."

Four Warriors reached the double digits in points but Takahashi led with 14 and Bibb was right behind her (13). Takashi was 4-8 in three pointers with seven rebounds and a steal. Bibb ended the night 5-8 in field goals which ranks her second in the conference in field goal percentage, right behind Meghan Peneueta.

"Bibb and Takahashi were solid offensively. Takahashi shot the ball very well and was such a threat on the 3 point line. Kayla is active around the basket and when she does well we all do."

The Warriors continue their conference play against Los Angeles Harbor at home on Friday night. "Harbor is 3-0, so it is a big match and first round of conference. We'll be challenged more defensively," said Coach Shaw. "We need to trust what we are doing, focus on the game plan and what we want to do."
