The Warriors Dominate Over ECC-Compton, 69-44
TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors are now two wins away from becoming the conference champions. Facing El Camino-Compton tonight, the Warriors dominated over the Tartars 69-44.
The Warriors led 20-13 in the 1st quarter. In the last three minutes of the 1st quarter, there were three back-to-back three pointers, two from Hunter Noa and one from Meghan Peneueta. The Tartars came close to the Warriors in the 2nd quarter, keeping the score within 8 points of each other. At the half, the Warriors were up 35-27. Meghan Peneueta and Elise Allison had 9 points each, and off the bench Hunter Noa added 6.
In the 3rd quarter, the Warriors' momentum did not stop, taking the lead by 10 points throughout the entire quarter, ending the quarter 50-35. The Warriors put up 19 points in the 4th quarter, with the final score at 69-44. In the second half, Kayla Bibb scored 10 points and Elisa Allison added 9.
Elise Allison finished the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Coach Steve Shaw commented, "Elise is so selfless and so willing to do whatever. She does not push for herself, she pushes for the team and what ever is best for the team. It is never about her, it is always about the team."
Shaw added, "It was a good win, but Compton did not make it easy. They have had a big change in their program and they are continuing to get better and better. Overall, I thought we were better in the second half – playing with more energy and enthusiasm…which you have to do."
