TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 49-46 defeat at the hands of Citrus on Friday night at the ECC Gym Complex.
The Warriors (1-2) struggled out of the gates with a rough first half and it proved to be too much to overcome against the Owls. (1-2).
The Warriors shot just 23.1 percent (6-for-26) and 2-for-14 beyond the arc as they managed just 15 points in the first 20 minutes.
But the team stormed back in the second half, blitzing the Owls in a 20-4 third quarter to take a one-point advantage into the final period.
But the Owls were able to pull it out in the end, outscoring the Warriors 15-11 in the final quarter to score the win.
Brandy Castaneda led the Warriors with 24 points including 19 in the second half. Imani Taitt-Gibbs added eight points and nine rebounds for the Warriors in the loss.
The team will look to regroup on Wednesday as they host Rio Hondo in a non-conference affair at 5 p.m.
