Warriors Falter in Singles to Drop Conference Opener

WHITTIER, Calif. --- El Camino College let an early lead slip away in a 6-3 South Coast Conference loss to Rio Hondo on Tuesday afternoon at the RHC Tennis Courts.

The Warriors held a 2-1 advantage after the doubles portion of the match but managed to win just one singles match.

Kathy Magallanes scored the only win on the singles side for the Warriors, scoring a 6-3, 2-6, 11-9 win on court No. 5.

In doubles action, Karen Canela and Jhanine Estigoy won the match on court one, 9-7. Robyn Wong and Maya Peck scored an 8-4 win on court two and improved their record to 3-1 overall on the season.

The Warriors will return to action on Friday at Southwestern.
