Wong, Canela and Estigoy Advance to State Championships, Wong All-Conference
WALNUT, Calif. --- El Camino College had three players qualify for the 2025 3C2A State Championships this past weekend as Robyn Wong, Karen Canela and Jhanine Estigoy took part in the South Coast Conference championships.
Wong qualified for singles competition at state as she advanced to the quarterfinals at the SCC Championships to make it. She was the No. 7 seed in the bracket and scored a win (6-1, 6-2) over Sophia Chavez of Rio Hondo in the round of 16.
Wong was eliminated from the SCC Championships in the quarterfinals by No. 2 seed Julianna Vich of Mount San Antonio (6-0, 6-0), who would go on to claim the SCC singles crown.
In doubles, the duo of Estigoy and Canela drew the No. 7 seed and defeated Mia Castillo and Orianna Ramirez of College of the Desert (8-2) to advance to the quarterfinals and claim the automatic qualifier. Canela and Estigoy would fall to No. 2 seed Trinity Miller and Zoe Lopez of COD in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).
In addition to qualifying for state, Wong was also named to the 2025 All-SCC Second Team for singles.
