Jonas Fahrney and Ilene Guerrero Earn SCC First Team Selection for Water Polo
TORRANCE, Calif. - Jonas Fahrney and Ilene Guerrero both made South Coast Conference First Team selection on behalf of the Warriors' Men and Women Water Polo teams. Richard Beck and Nicholas Elias both made it onto the men's SCC Second Team, while Taylor Baird and Andrea Canchola both made the Second Team for the women's side.
As a first year forward, Fahrney earned his honor by scoring a total of 55 goals and 70 steals in his 19 appearances for the Warriors. Fahrney ranked 6th in blocks in the conference and 9th overall in number of steals.
Freshman forward Guerrero made First Team selection for the women's side with 61 goals and 23 assists in 18 matches. She also logged a total of 52 steals and nine blocks.
Sophomore Beck earns his second SCC selection, having appeared in 21 games. He recorded 37 goals and 20 assists, he also ranked 9th in conference for turnovers (15).
Freshman goalie Elias started in the net in all 21 of his appearances, recording 179 saves and ranked 6th in conference for saves (78).
As goalie for the women's team, Baird started in 22 matches and ranked 16th overall for saves with a total of 184. She also recorded 34 steals, a goal, and eight assists.
Goalie/Forward Conchola received Second Team honors with a total of 76 steals. She also started in all of her 22 appearances, recording 25 goals and 30 assists.
The women's team ranked 7th in conference with a conference record of 2-6 and 6-16 overall. The men's water polo team placed 6th in their conference (1-7) and finished the season with an overall record of 4-21.
