Nunez MVP, Palmer Co-Coach of the Year as All-SCC Teams Announced

TORRANCE, Calif. --- Sophomore Slater Nunez and El Camino College head coach Grant Palmer both earned top honors as the 2026 All South Coast Conference Team was announced Tuesday.

Nunez was named to the 2026 SCC Most Valuable Player while Palmer earned co-Coach of the Year honors for leading the Warriors to a share of the conference title, the program's first since 2023 and seventh overall.

Nunez batted .362 with a team high 59 hits on the season for the Warriors. He had 15 doubles, three triples and tied for the team lead with seven home runs. He also led the Warriors with 46 RBIs and finished the year with a 1.078 OPS.

Palmer earned his first coach of the year honor after leading the Warriors to a 33-7 overall record during the regular season and a 19-5 mark in conference play to claim a share of the SCC title. The Warriors logged a second straight 30-win season in Palmer's third year at the helm. The Warriors also claimed the No. 3 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs, which are set to begin Friday at Warrior Field.

Along with the two top honors, the Warriors also had three other players selected to the first team with one second-team selection.

The Warriors entire starting pitching rotation of Cameron O'Neil, Adrian Pineda and Anthony Camarena all earned All-SCC First Team honors.

O'Neil made 13 starts and went 11-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 78.2 innings pitched. He struck out 61 batters during the regular season.

Pineda led the conference with a 2.00 ERA and 87 strikeouts. He went 8-1 during the regular season and averaged 9.67 strikeouts per nine innings. He allowed just 18 earned runs and 22 overall in 81 innings pitched.

Camarena made a team high 14 starts for the Warriors and finished the regular season 8-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 80.1 innings pitched. He struck out 42 batters.

Kai Nagashima earned the Warriors lone spot on the All-SCC Second Team. The Warriors' third baseman finished the season with a .319 batting average and was third on the team with 43 hits. He had five doubles and 28 RBIs with 25 runs scored.
