Martinez, Henry Pace Warriors at Steele Canyon Golf Course
JAMUL, Calif. --- El Camino College made the trek to Jamul, Calif. on Monday to participate in the Orange Empire Match hosted by Cuyamaca College at the Steele Canyon Golf Course.
The event was played on the Canyon and Ranch courses at the 27-hole club. Once again, Aden Henry was excellent for the Warriors as he carded a 4-over 75 to record his third straight top-10 finish. Henry finished tied for sixth overall and was just three shots back of the lead and one stroke shy of logging his first top-five finish. Henry has now carded a round in the 70s for the fifth straight tournament and eighth time overall this season.
Joshua Martinez also had a stellar day on the course, recording his best career round and first in the 70s. He carded a 7-over 78 to record his first top-20 finish, tying for 19th place.
Matt Ingram of Orange Coast and Taiki Marsh of Cuyamaca earned co-medalist honors with a 1-over 72 on a day where no golfer was able to break par over the 6,781-yard par-71 layout.
In the team standings, Cypress recorded the victory with a 24-over 379 with hosts Cuyamaca placing second with a 384. Orange Coast placed third with a 387.
The Warriors will return to action on Monday, April 7 for the final conference match of the season hosted by College of the Desert at Bermuda Dunes Country Club in Bermuda Dunes, Calif.
Following that event, the Warriors will compete at the OEC Championships hosted by OCC on the Los Lagos course at Costa Mesa Country Club.
