Baseball Sweeps East L.A.
MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- El Camino College completed a three-game South Coast Conference series sweep over East Los Angeles, 8-5, on Saturday afternoon at ELAC.
Gil Solis and Nathan Rivera each homered and Anthony Camarena went six innings on the mound to record the victory.
Slater Nunez was 3-for-4 with a run scored and picked up his sixth save on the mound in the ninth, retiring the side in order with two strikeouts.
The Warriors scored four times in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie with Rivera's two-run home run capping off the big inning and putting ECC up 5-1.
The team would add three runs in the eighth to make it 8-1 but the Huskies put up a four-spot in their half of the eighth get within striking distance before Nunez shut the door in the ninth.
The Warriors head into the final week of the regular season with a one-game lead in the loss column over Mt. San Antonio in the SCC standings. The Mounties have completed their conference schedule, finishing the season with a 19-5 mark in SCC play.
The Warriors will face Pasadena for their final SCC series of the year. The Warriors can clinch at least a share of the SCC title with two wins and take the title outright with a sweep. Game one is set for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Warrior Field.
