Men’s Water Polo Takes Two of Three at Southwestern Tournament

CHULA VISTA, Calif. --- El Camino College moved to 15-5 on the season after winning two of three matches at the Southwestern Mini Tournament on Friday at the SWC Aquatics Complex.

WARRIORS 20, SAN DIEGO MIRAMAR 10

The Warriors opened the day with a dominant win over the Jets in their second meeting of the season. Max Hale led the Warriors attack with six goals on six shots and added one assist. Heitor Trefilio added four goals while four other players recorded two goals each in the win.

Sam Adams played three of the four periods in the cage and tallied nine saves to earn the victory. Markus Leon made two saves in one quarter of action.

WARRIORS 14, PALOMAR 11

The Warriors and Comets had played and split two competitive matches prior to Friday's meeting and the duel at Southwestern was no different.

The Warriors led 6-2 at halfime but the Comets stormed back in the third, outscoring the Warriors 6-2 in the period to tie things up at 8-8. The Warriors would prevail though thanks to a six-goal period of their own in the final quarter with Marc Bugarin tallying two goals in the quarter.

Bugarin would finish the match with four goals to lead the team with Cooper Josic, Robbie Josic, Scott Fujiwara and Trefilio all scoring two goals apiece.

Vios Lopez played the entire match and made seven saves to secure the victory in the cage.

GROSSMONT 21, WARRIORS 11

The Warriors were outscored in every period and suffered their second loss to the Griffins this season.

Scott Fujiwara and Max Hale each scored three goals to lead the team while Robbie Josic and Bugarin added two apiece. Brayden Sanchez dished out three assists and Lopez made three saves in the loss.

The Warriors will return home on Wednesday to take on No. 8 Cerritos at the ECC Aquatics Center at approximately 4:15 p.m.
